Packing For Key West

The countdown to spring break has begun and guide2 has mastered the mission of packing. I’ve put together the ultimate packing list, complete with all my favorite vacation essentials for my spring break trip to Key West, Florida.

  1. Neutral Bathing Suits

Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 4.03.02 PM

The number one must have item in your bag this spring break is a cute swimsuit. It’s always smart to buy neutral bathing suit tops and bottoms, so you can mix and match your styles! Fringe has their best selling suits back in stock, so hurry in soon before they are all gone.

2. Big Hats

Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 3.11.28 PM 1

I never leave the house without my beach hat when vacationing somewhere sunny. Along with protecting my skin, a big hat keeps me cool in the heat of the day and completes my perfect beach look. Check out Cloister Collection before your departure for a variety of hat styles to block the rays.

3. The Perfect Pair of Sunnies

Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 3.00.28 PM

A good pair of sunglasses is a staple item for any getaway. Fab’rik has a wide variety of fashionable lenses and frames to dress up any bathing suit or sundress style. Colorful reflective lenses are still popular and one of my favorites looks!

4. Light Weight Cover Ups

Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 3.06.55 PM

Sometimes the best part about a beach look is a fashionable cover up. Heery’s offers different styles of cover ups; rompers, maxi dresses, and shawls, that can be dressed up or down. Check out this awesome beach look from Heery’s, complete with strappy sandals, reflective sunglasses, a floral bathing suit top, and a neutral, comfortable cover up dress.

5. Casual Sundress

Screen Shot 2017-02-27 at 6.57.43 PM

A nice, ethereal sundress can double as a cover up and is essential for any sunshine destination. Cheeky Peach is stocked with a selection of must have sundresses, great for any occasion! There is nothing better than coming back from a long day on the beach and throwing on an easy dress for the night, pairing it with a statement piece of jewelry and jean jacket.

Make sure to check all these items off your list-and you’ll be set for a fun in the sun spring break!

guide2: Shopping Trends with Agora Vintage

Since the New Year, shopping trends for 2017 are starting to arise, therefore we have asked expert Airee Edwards of Agora Vintage, a consignment and vintage fashion shop located in downtown Athens that sells pre-owned designer clothing and accessories for less than full retail price, to explain these new fashion trends and give us her predictions for what’s to come as the year progresses.

Airee has noticed that people are leaning heavily towards a 90’s aesthetic, with a focus on clean lines and great quality basics.

“A little black dress is a classic piece for every woman’s closet and personally something I am always looking for, but can’t find,” stated Edwards.

Due to the increasing need for good staple pieces, Agora Vintage has been collecting a variety of black dresses, that can take you from day to night, as well as great accessories, like belts or costume jewelry, to modernize the outfit.

Airee has also noticed that woman are wanting to be more feminine. Fitted clothing that accentuates the waist line have been portrayed through pieces like the blazer, which can be paired with a dress or blouse. For Edwards, this combinations creates a sophisticated and glamorous look.

Individuality has become a dominant trend in 2017. Women are focusing more on dressing for their body type and not getting caught up on what’s trendy.

“Women are owning up to their style and not letting other people dictate what they are wearing. They are loving themselves more and I am seeing that- every size is beautiful,” explained Edwards.

Edwards is not only involved with Agora Vintage, but also with Dancing With the Athens Stars, Athens’ biggest annual fundraising event. To raise money for this event, Edwards is hosting a pop up sale this upcoming weekend, giving all proceeds to Project Safe, a non profit organization working to end domestic violence through supportive services, eduction, crisis intervention, and prevention. The sale will not be held at Agora Vintage’s regular shop, but instead at 121 E. Clayton St. across from Pauley’s Crepe Bar. So stop by Friday, 4:00PM-8:00PM or Saturday, 10:00AM-6:00PM for first dibs on amazing selections of designer apparel, shoes, handbags, home decor, furniture, nicknacks and jewelry! This is a once in a lifetime sale event, so you don’t want to miss out!
